About

Surviving a lion bite, firing shots as a champion gunslinger, wrangling a calf or two, and standing in the path of a moving bus are just a few of the wild adventures that have inspired author and veteran high-school science teacher, Sally McClure. Stories from her real-life experiences, and some not so real, come to life with a little (lot of) chocolate, a blind eye to the ever-present dust, and some sage advice from Dracula, her pet tarantula. Cheetoh and the Bank Robbers is her debut novel loosely based on a crazy barn cat at the family farm. Her husband and three grown children have forbidden her from including them in her stories.

New calves

Younglings hold a special place in my heart, and this little calf is absolutely, adorable! One of my favorite times at the farm is when calves are born! Did you catch the Star Wars reference?

Dracula

This is Dracula. My apologies to the arachnophobes out there, but he is just so cool (and creepy!) I have had him for about 17 years. Who knew they could live that long? Shh! Don’t tell anyone, but he is where I get my best ideas.

Gunslinger

As kids, my brother, sister, and I grew up shooting all sorts of guns. We were quite good, going to nationals several times as young teens. But each time we pulled the trigger in a competition, our guns were pointed at still targets…while we were standing still. If the object moved, I was more likely to shoot my foot than what I was aiming at.
