On Saturday, I went to the Texas Region 11 Citizen Bee to watch one of my students compete. There were supposed to be 5 team members, but due to individual circumstances, only 1 was able to go. They took a written test and then participated in 5 rounds of oral questions similar to a spelling bee, but these were all government and history-related questions. When it was their turn, they walked up to a bowl and drew out a number, which corresponded to the question they were asked. It was hard and nerve-wracking!!!! My student wound up 5th over all, only 2 places out of medal contention! So proud! #realworldlearning #waytogo #proudteacher
